There are plenty of choices for hotels in Phi Phi Don, on the north beach the hotels are near the noisy nightlife, and the south beach you are nearer boats, and kayaks. On the outlying beaches its more tranquil and relaxed.
I chose the Bay View Resort, its was far enough away from the town to be quiet, on the hill for a view of the Bay (hence the name!), good enough to be Air approved, and cheap enough to be Appon approved!
There's some nice features of this hotel, an evening meal on the sand at the resorts beach front restaurant is a definite highpoint.
There are more expensive hotels further along the beach, but at high tide, Bay View is already a walk across a narrow strip of sand, with the sea covering most of the beach. The further out hotels require a more involved trek up the hill!
Some places are dog places, some places are cat places, Phi Phi don is definitely a cat place. cats are everywhere, Bay View Resort has signs asking you not to feed them. But, well, I was full and it seemed a pity to waste the meat and who could resist:
For something more isolated, more the bungalow-on-the-beach experience. Relax Beach Resort around the coast looks very good. I ate there on my island tour.
Phi Phi Relax Beach Resort, is on the east side of the island.
